Our Pelmanism teaching game is an effective and fun game for teaching pupils English. Instead of playing cards, in our Pelmansim game each cell is occupied by a picture or a text from the selected topic.
Teams take it in turns to specify a picture and it's text in the target language. If the class decides the language was acceptable, the team can click on the picture and text. If the text and picture match, those cells are cleared and points are scored (manually - by the teacher or by the team's representative). The game ends when all the pictures and texts have been cleared revealing a starscape behind.
Click on the telephone sign to switch on speech - the English speech will play each time a text is rolled over by the mouse.
In this simple teaching game, teams attempt to clear pairs of pictures and texts from the topic Family - members from the board by matching them (in English if possible). Each team should take it in turns to name a picture by speaking it's corresponding text, and then clicking on both. If they match, they will disappear. Score points by clicking on the team's score buttons. If there is no match, the picture and text will remain in place.
Select the topic you would like to use by clicking the 'Change topic' button.
The game can be played with up to 6 teams, or with the option of no scoring.
In this game scores are added manually. Award one point for each correctly named matching pair by clicking on the appropriate team colour square. Other options include awarding points only for revealing the last pair, etc.
In this game, winning is signalled by the appearance of the animated character dancing to music.
Click on that character to switch the music off / on.
