Mix and match is a language teaching game for the MFL classroom. Teams compete to win a given number of points by dragging the picture block into the correct storage box. A point is deducted for an incorrect answer. Mix and match is one of 10 FREE whole class games to teach English at iclanguage.com.
The game starts in a child's play room. There are 3 storage boxes, each with a word or phrase beneath it. Clicking on a box plays the speech. Teams take it in turns to drag their coloured block into the right box. If the answer is correct, a point is added to their score. If incorrect, the block returns to its starting position and the team lose a point. Switch between teams using the Next team button. A target score is set at the beginning of the game and the first team to reach it wins the game.
The English language (speech and text) for a picture is available by clicking on the question mark.
Select the topic you would like to use by clicking the 'Change topic' button.
Select whether to use on-screen help buttons while playing the game.
Four options are available:
The on-screen help buttons appear on the game page as a question mark in the corner of each picture.
The game can be played with up to 6 teams, or with the option of no scoring.
In this game scores are added manually. Award one point for each correctly named matching pair by clicking on the appropriate team colour square. Other options include awarding points only for revealing the last pair, etc.
In this game, winning is signalled by the appearance of your selected character dancing to music.
Click on that character to switch the music off / on.
